Raw Product and Feeding Notice

This notice explains the handling and feeding risks of raw and other uncooked animal products, and it applies to every product sold on pettreats.net.

What this notice covers

This Raw Product, Feeding, and Assumption of Risk Notice is part of the Terms of Service for pettreats.net, which is operated by Sniff & Shift LLC. It applies to every product on the site: treats made by Sniff and Shift, and partner products fulfilled and shipped by suppliers through Shopify Collective. Partner products are not made by Sniff and Shift, and the label and directions from their maker also apply to them.

Raw and uncooked animal products

Animal products that are raw, or that are freeze dried or air dried without cooking, can carry bacteria such as Salmonella and Listeria. These bacteria can make animals and people ill. The product page and label tell you what a product is made from and how it is prepared.

Handling and storage

  • Wash your hands with soap and warm water after handling any treat or chew.
  • Wash bowls, scoops and surfaces that a product has touched.
  • Store each product as its label directs, and keep it sealed between uses.
  • Keep products and feeding areas out of reach of young children.
  • These products are for animals only and are not for people to eat.

Feeding

  • Read the label, ingredient list and feeding directions before the first feeding.
  • Choose a size and texture that suits your animal, and watch your animal while it eats. Any treat or chew can break into pieces or become a choking hazard.
  • Offer a new product in small amounts at first.
  • Treats are not meant to replace an animal’s regular food.
  • Keep fresh water available.
  • If you are unsure whether a product suits your animal, ask a licensed professional who cares for your animal before feeding it.
  • Stop feeding a product if your animal reacts badly to it, and keep the packaging.

Packaging and lot information

Keep the package, including any lot number or date on it, until the product is used up. If you report a problem, we may ask for it, as our Refund Policy describes.

Assumption of risk

By buying, handling or feeding a product from pettreats.net, you accept the risks described in this notice, including the risks that come with raw and uncooked animal products. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sniff & Shift LLC is not liable for injury, illness, loss or damage that results from handling, storing or feeding a product in a way that does not follow this notice or the product label. The limits of liability in Section 13 of our Terms of Service also apply. Nothing in this notice limits any right you have under law that cannot be waived.
