Blueberry Pup-Ornaut is dog ice cream with two ingredients: nonfat Greek yogurt and blueberries. We freeze-dry it instead of freezing it, and that one decision changes how you store it and how you serve it.

There are two ways to serve it. Straight from the bag, the pieces are light and crunchy. Add a splash of water and they soften into an ice-cream-style texture, which is as close to a scoop as a bag on a shelf is going to get.

Crunchy from the bag, or soft with water

Crunchy is the default, and for training the guide is 1 to 3 small pieces per session, adjusted to the dog's size and activity. Soft takes a splash of water. Both ways it is the same yogurt and the same blueberries.

Ice cream for dogs that skips the freezer

Because it is freeze-dried rather than frozen, it takes up no freezer space and it does not melt on car seats or floors. It comes in one bag size. When a batch of blueberry sells out, the button on this page stays off until there is more, and we do not take orders ahead.

Blueberry Pup-Ornaut is freeze-dried in small batches in Malvern, Pennsylvania, and it ships from us. A recurring order can be managed on our subscription page. When blueberry is between batches, there is the rest of our freeze-dried dog treats.

Feeding and storage

Feed as a treat or reward. Not a complete diet. Provide fresh water at all times. Break into smaller pieces for small dogs. Supervise while snacking. Once the bag is open, reseal it and keep it somewhere cool and dry.

Questions

Does this dog ice cream go in the freezer?

No. It is freeze-dried, not frozen, so it needs no freezer space and it does not melt.

How do I make it soft like ice cream?

Add a splash of water to the pieces and they soften into an ice-cream-style texture. Leave the water out and they stay crunchy.

What is in blueberry Pup-Ornaut?

Nonfat Greek yogurt and blueberries. The yogurt is dairy, so blueberry is not a single ingredient treat.

Can I give it to a small dog?

The label's instruction is to break it into smaller pieces for small dogs and to supervise while the dog is snacking.

Why is the button off sometimes?

Because that batch of blueberry sold out. The button comes back when there is more in bags, and we do not promise a date.
